Eastern Panhandle Home School Conference PostScript

My husband and I just got home from the Third Annual Eastern Panhandle Home School Conference. We had a wonderful time getting to talk with many other homeschool parents.

My husband had a table for The Homeschool Organizer.

The Homeschool Organizer Cover

He had six different planners available from The Well Planned Day, the Homeschool Tracker Plus software (referral code 7CX65), he also had the book Transcripts Made Easy from Janice Campbell. Of course, he also had The Homeschool Organizer system to demonstrate and sell. It was wonderful to have former customers come back to the table to tell how by using this product, their record keeping has become easier and more organized. They feel more relaxed about being ready for their “Portfolio Review.”

At my own table today, I was able to meet with many “new to homeschooling” moms. It is always wonderful to listen to them and encourage them to not be afraid. The look of nervousness is written all over their faces, but when they see the Teacher’s Editions with simple and well written instructions and the colorful worktexts, they relax for a moment. Then, they start asking questions. That is my favorite moment – listening to and answering questions!

My “formal day” ended with my first public speaking engagement -  a seminar on High School Transcripts. Several weeks of almost continuous study on this topic have passed since I found out I would be privileged to teach today.  It has given me new appreciation for the umbrella program that we as a family are under. The ladies in the seminar were wonderful! I presented the materials and resources that I found to be helpful. They in return asked lots of questions. The hour transpired far more rapidly than I could have ever imagined, it  was over in a flash!

Looking forward to getting some rest.  Our house is beginning to settle down for the evening!

Living Well Wednesday Today

Living Well Wednesday - Today

Living Well Wednesday Logo

WOW – the last full week of March!  Where did the time go? Here in the US, most of us have switched to Daylight Savings Time. I have really enjoyed having more hours of sunlight in the evenings.  The day seems so much longer, which is very helpful!

I have been very busy this week preparing for teaching my first seminar on Saturday. I am looking forward to being at the Eastern Panhandle Home School Conference. This is not my first time to be at this wonderful conference, but it is my first time speaking. To be honest, I am quite nervous about public speaking. I know that I have learned a lot about Transcripts in the past couple of weeks, and I look forward to helping other moms feel more at ease about preparing transcripts for their children.

This week’s weather has been very unpredictable.  It is cold in the mornings and sunny in the afternoon, which is wonderful.  We have been hanging clothes on the line to dry, which is a great savings! The evenings are warm and cloudless, the stars are beautiful. Then for the past couple of nights, after I lay down to sleep, of course, I hear the “pitter patter” of rain.  So, the mad dash begins to run and get the laundry off the clothesline before it gets wet! Oh well – good aerobic exercise, right?

Thank you to Natalie for hosting Living Well Wednesday! See you next week.

Living Well Wednesday – Update

I just realized that I have not posted on Living Well Wednesday for almost a month!

Living Well Wednesday - A Day Late

Living Well Wednesday Logo

WOW!  I apologize!  Life has been crazy busy. Now to bring you a little update.

First, as always, I want to thank Natalie for hosting Living Well Wednesday.

Second, my busy season for homeschooling is really picking up – YAY!  But that means I lose track of time and how long it has been since I have posted here.  I have had one Open House so far.  I have also met with a local co-op to work with for ordering their school books. It was so nice to meet new friends and get reacquainted with old friends that I had not seen in a while.

Third, since Living Well Wednesday has started, I have lost six pounds.  My husband and I had a wedding to attend this past weekend, so I decided to see if I had lost any weight yet.  Boy – I was excited (yes, I did the happy dance!).  Losing weight before the wedding was a great reward for “starving” last week.  No, I did not really starve!  I just decided to eat really clean, exercise faithfully on the treadmill and increase the weight training in our gym (garage).  It paid off, now if I can just keep it up!

Well, that is a brief update for me.  I will try to be more faithful in writing on this blog.  I took down my old business website and an changing it to a wordpress site.  It is a really slow process – not going near as fast as it did with this blog! I look forward to hopping around to see everyone’s posts.

Friday Favorites – Purse

Thank you to Kim over at Kimber’s Korner for hosting Friday Favorites.

Favorite Purse Friday

Friday Favorites Logo

I have been thinking about what I would write for this post for over two weeks now.  The reason is – “I hate purses!”  There, now, that it is out in the open!  I know that as a woman, I am supposed to have way too many purses.  I am supposed to have at least one for every outfit.  I am supposed to always find another one that is just right, just one more!  I am NOT that woman.

For so many years of our marriage, we had little ones.  So the only bag I carried was a diaper bag.  I put my wallet in there.  What did I need a purse for?  Then, when our youngest was no longer wearing diapers, I thought I better buy a purse.  I was shocked!  I had no idea!  No wonder there are so many jokes about women and purses!

Brand

If I had to choose a favorite brand of purse – I would probably choose – Etienne Aigner.  I have always loved going to the outlet store and browsing.  I have always thought this brand was very classic.

Another brand that I have just found out about is Thirty-One.  My friend, Kristie, sells these and she was kind enough to send me a catalog.  I wanted to become a consultant, so that I could give these bags away to my Homesat Helper elite hostesses, but they put a “freeze” on new consultants as of the the 8th of February.

Style

If I had to choose a favorite style of purse – I would probably choose a shoulder bag.  I also would want it to have lots of little compartments to keep my stuff organized.  I hate digging around in the bottom of my purse to find my lip balm.

Size

If I had to choose a favorite size of purse – I would have to say medium size.  I would rather carry two bags so that neither bag is too heavy.  To me – a small purse is a waste of energy.  If the purse is small it never has what I want when I want it.  On the other hand – a large purse is a waste of space.  If you don’t have an organizer bag, everything falls to the middle and the bottom of the bag.  It is impossible to find anything!

I do not think I could buy a purse online.  The exception to this would be if I was buying a duplicate of a purse or bag I already owned.  I am way to cheap to spend good money on a purse that is not what I want.  I still have not found the “perfect” purse for me.  So, I just wrote a whole post to tell you that . . . I do not have a favorite purse!

See you next week for another Friday Favorite!  In the comments, why don’t you tell me what is your favorite purse is.

Living Well Wednesday – A day late!

First – I want to thank Natalie for hosting Living Well Wednesday!

Living Well Wednesday - A Day Late

Living Well Wednesday Logo

Second – I apologize for being late with this post!  My husband is still working from home – YAY!  However, I am soooo confused with the days of the week anymore!  I usually always knew what day of the week it was before – because his schedule for each day of the week was different.  Mondays used to be his day off, etc.

Third – down to business!  The routine has improved again.  The days are getting longer – so the younger boys are able to get outside after their school work is finished!  It has improved their attitudes and they are falling asleep earlier.  We are definitely getting on more of a morning schedule!

Fourth – our exercise routine is improving also.  Most of us are working on the treadmill daily.  Some of us are also adding weight training to the list.  It is a little uncomfortable to be muscle sore.  However, muscle burns more calories!

See you next week!

How are your fitness goals working out?

Friday Favorites – Valentine Celebrations

Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites Logo

Well, I am a little late with this post. I first want to thank Kim over at Kimber’s Korner for hosting Friday Favorites.

I knew right away what I was going to post when I saw the topic. I mean, I am a woman, and I know what I like and what I don’t like!  But, I decided to ask my husband to make sure what I thought was our favorite way to celebrate Valentine’s Day was his favorite also. So, when I asked my husband what was our favorite way to celebrate Valentine’s Day was he said the exact thing that I was thinking. I was so happy! I mean we have been married for a long time, but to be the exact thing, was great!

So, to make it even better, I decided to ask our children. “What is our favorite way to celebrate Valentine’s Day?”

Ghirardelli Chocolate Heart

Ghirardelli Chocolate Heart Tin

They said the exact same thing. OK – so, now you know this has to be a family favorite tradition!

Our favorite way to celebrate Valentine’s Day is “nothing” – until the next day!! We go to the different stores and buy Half-priced Valentine’s Candy. That is our favorite thing! We love conversation hearts. We love good chocolate (Ghirardelli). We love marshmallow peeps hearts.   So, we tend to buy kisses, peppermint patties, m&ms, and skittles. Plus, the chocolate, conversation hearts, and marshmallow hearts!
